Sahara Group founder and chairman Subrata Roy breathed his last today a while ago. The company in a statement stated that Subrata Roy, aged, 75, died today after battling a prolonged illness. In the statement, it was said that he succumbed to cardiorespiratory arrest. He battled the complications raised from metastatic malignancy, hypertension, and diabetes.

His health deteriorated on Sunday and he was immediately admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubai Ambani Hospital and Medical Research Institute in Mumbai.

Subrata Roy is survived by his wife Swapna Roy and two sons, Sushanto Roy, and Seemanto Roy, they live abroad.

Subrata Roy was born in the year 1948 in Bihar’s Araria. Mr. Roy started Sahara India Pariwar with a capital of Rs. 2,000. “His loss will be deeply felt by the entire Sahara India Pariwar,” the company said in the statement.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav posted on X, “The death of Shri Subrata Roy ji is an emotional loss for Uttar Pradesh and the country because along with being a very successful businessman, he was also a very sensitive person with a big heart who helped countless people and became their support,” revealed.
