Mangalavaram movie review Jaisw

Payal Rajput of RX100 fame played the lead role in the mystic thriller Mangalavaram. RX100 director Ajay Bhupathi directed the film. Promos of the film looked interesting. Let us check out the review of Mangalavaram which was released today.

Story:

Mangalavaram story revolves around a village called Mahalakshmipuram. Back-to-back deaths of two couples send shivers down the spine in every villager. Coincidentally, these deaths happen on Mangalavaram which is the favorite day for the village deity. The villagers started to believe there was some mystery behind the deaths. Also, there is a mystery man who writes the names of these couples on walls before day.

What is happening in the village? Who are those couples that were killed? Does this have any connection to Shailu alias Shailaja (Payal Rajput) who was sent away from the village?

Performances:

Definitely, this is a refreshing role for Payal Rajput. She has got the scope to perform and be glamorous. She only comes in the second half but her presence is there in the first half as well. She did well in emotional scenes. Nanditha Swetha appears as a Police Officer. She does okay but there is nothing special in her role. Ajay Ghosh – Laxman entertains with a comedy track. Chaitanya Krishna’s role is well written. Others are just fine.

Technicalities:

The production values of Mangalavaram stand high. The main highlight of the movie is definitely Ajaneesh’s background music. He has given a new look to his music. The sounds will haunt you even after walking out of the theater. The Cinematography is very well done though. Editing is fine.

When it comes to the story, Ajay Bhupathi has written a fresh story but there are certain loopholes. The story doesn’t take off until Interval. The second half gradually slows down. The last 20 minutes is the crux of the story. The ending willn’t satisfy you. There are open threads for characters in the second half.

Finally:

Mangalavaram is a mystic thriller that willn’t fully satisfy you. On the other hand, it is not a bad film. Though there is no story, the first half keeps you hooked. The second half slows down. Overall, those who love this genre can give it a go.
