We often ignore the greatness of our Indians and the discoveries our ancient Indians made for the betterment of society. We haven’t recognized the greatness of our Indians who have excelled in their respective fields and such an example is Srinivasa Ramanujan. The Indian mathematician made substantial contributions to mathematical analysis, number theory, infinite series, and continued fractions. He did all this without any formal training in Mathematics.
Recently, Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg has spoken about the greatness of Srinivasa Ramanujan. This is an old video that has been viral over the past few days for various reasons. In his speech, Mark Zuckerberg stated how Ramanujan had achieved, what he had without any resources at that time.
In his words, “A man who grew up in India, named Srinivasa Ramanujan, and he was poor, there was no internet at that time. He didn’t have any formal education but somehow he managed to get a math textbook and that book was enough for him to figure out all of the modern mathematics that existed at that time and push the field forward. Think about this… what would have happened if he had access to the internet?”
