TDP Secures Major Victory in Andaman with Municipal Chairperson Win
The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has achieved a significant victory in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands with the election of S. Shahul Hamid as the Chairperson of the Shree Vijayapuram Municipal Council (SVMC) in South Andaman. Contesting as a candidate of the TDP-BJP alliance, Hamid won 15 out of 24 votes, defeating the incumbent Congress candidate, Sudeep Roy Sharma. This victory marks the second municipal win for the TDP in the region, following their success in the Port Blair Municipal Corporation, where TDP’s Selvi had earlier secured the Chairperson position.
The election campaign was closely monitored by TDP National Vice President and Andaman In-Charge V. Madhavanayudu, who praised the outcome as a testament to the growing trust in the TDP-BJP alliance among the local population. TDP President N. Manikya Rao Yadav also hailed the victory as a clear indication of the people’s confidence in their leadership. TDP Chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed his happiness over the result and thanked the Andaman voters for their support, emphasizing that the party’s agenda is focused on public welfare regardless of state boundaries.
