Sunil Narine rules out possible return of retirement for World Cup
Following the success of his batting and bowling in the ongoing Indian Premier League, there are speculations that Sunil Narine might be considering coming out of retirement for the upcoming T20 World Cup. West Indies T20 Captain Rovman Powell said that he will do whatever he has to bring Sunil Narine out of retirement. He stated that he has been trying the same for the past 12 months.
With this statement, speculations rose about the comeback of Sunil Narine into International T20 Cricket. However, the seasoned allrounder made it clear that he has no intentions of making a comeback.
“I’m truly flattered and humbled that my performances recently have moved many people to publicly express their wish for me to come out of retirement and play in the upcoming T20 World Cup,” Narine said in a statement.
He continued, “I have made peace with that decision and whilst I never wish to disappoint, that door is now closed and I will be supporting the guys who take the field in June for West Indies. I wish you all the best.”
