India’s premier off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is all set to play his milestone 100th test match. The fifth test between India and England will be his 100th test match that will be played at Dharamshala starting March 7th. With this, he will become the 14th cricketer to represent India in 100 tests and the 77th overall. The 13 Indian players who have achieved this feat before Ashwin were Sunil Gavaskar, Dilip Vengsarkar, Kapil Dev, Sachin Tendulkar, Anil Kumble, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman, Harbhajan Singh, Virender Sehwag, Ishant Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Cheteshwar Pujara.
Jonny Bairstow from England is also making his 100th Test appearance for England with the Dharamshala test. He is the 17th such player for England.
Ravichandran Ashwin is currently 37 years old and he is the oldest Indian at the time of receiving his 100th test cap. Ravichandran Ashwin made his debut in tests in 2011/12. In his 99 tests so far, Ashwin picked 507 wickets, the second-highest for India only behind Kumble. He has scored 3309 runs as well.
