Mega Prince Varun Tej’s outing Operation Valentine was released today. The film’s promos impressed the audiences. Let us check out the review.
Story:
Wing Commander Arjun Dev (Varun Tej) is a brilliant expert in testing the aircraft. However, he has a bitter past that leaves scars in his life. The movie is all about the 2019 Pulwama attack and the revenge plot by the Indian Air Force.
What role did Arjun Dev aka Rudra play in this attack? How Ahna Gill (Manushi Chillar) plays an important role in it. One has to watch Operation Valentine to know about it.
Performances:
Varun Tej was seen as a confident and reckless guy. He does justice to his role. His personality aids him in portraying Arjun Dev. He was seen majorly with a mask in the second half and he emotes with his eyes throughout.
Manushi Chillar plays an important role yet there is nothing to speak about. She did an okay job. The rest of the actors get generic roles. They have got limited screen presence. Navdeep, Abhinav Gomatam, Sampath Raj, Ruhani Sharma, and others have either blink-and-miss roles or poorly written characters.
Technicalities:
The writing of Operation Valentine is below par. The director has done his research but his pale presentation is visible throughout. The songs go unregistered. The background music is loud. The cinematography and editing are patchy.
The VFX works are poor and they are visible onscreen. The budget constraints are understandable. The production values are just okay. The dialogues are good.
Analysis:
Firstly, Varun Tej should be commended for the way he is selecting content-driven films. At the same time, he should concentrate more on the treatment. Choosing different scripts and translating them effectively on the big screen is a different ball game altogether. Operation Valentine has its moments. The patriotism factor works well. However, the emotional connection is missing majorly. An average watch.
