New Regional Passport Office Inaugurated in Vijayawada

A new Regional Passport Office was inaugurated today in Vijayawada by Union Minister of State for External Affairs, Kirti Vardhan Singh. The new facility aims to reduce passport processing times and offer faster, more efficient services to residents of Andhra Pradesh.

Addressing the occasion, the Union Minister highlighted the government’s efforts to make passport services more accessible. He also introduced the new electronic passport, the PSP 2 version, which includes an embedded chip for smoother and quicker processing, leveraging the power of information technology.

The office will serve residents across 15 districts in the Central, Southern, and Rayalaseema regions, with an expected annual processing capacity of around 3 lakh passport applications.
