Rohit Sharma is an icon for Mumbai Indians. Under his leadership, Mumbai Indians won five titles and for this season he will not be the captain of the side. After the dramatic trade, Hardik Pandya was back with Mumbai Indians and he was handed over MI captaincy as well.
This didn’t go well with MI and Rohit Sharma fans as they trended against the franchise and Hardik Pandya as well. However, MI head coach Mark Boucher after a long time has reacted by leaving Rohit Sharma from captaincy. He said that it was purely a cricketing decision.
“It is a transition phase. People get quite emotional and a lot of people don’t get it in India. If you take the emotions from it, it’s just more of a cricketing decision. This will bring the best out of Rohit Sharma as a player. He can express himself freely as a batsman. We are just letting him go and enjoy and score some good runs,” said Mark Boucher.
He has also praised Hardik Pandya as a captain for making an instant impact after becoming Gujarat Titans captain.
