Rs. 500 Crores business for Tollywood
The first month of the new year was completed and the Sankranthi releases have seen a huge buzz in the business. Four films were released for Sankranthi in this month and HanuMan is easily the top-grossing film. HanuMan is also the biggest Sankranthi hit ever for the Telugu Cinema. The film has grossed more than Rs. 250 Crores and has struck gold in many territories including Nizam, Andhra, Hindi, and Overseas.
Super Star Mahesh Babu and Trivikram Srinivas teamed up for the movie Guntur Kaaram and the film carried massive expectations. It could be the biggest hit for a regional film because of its craze before the release. Unfortunately, the story fizzled out and Guntur Kaaram ended up underperforming in many areas.
Venkatesh’s Saindhav is a complete washout in all areas. The film sadly isn’t the right choice for the Sankranthi festival. Akkineni Nagarjuna’s Naa Saami Ranga is another Sankranthi hit. Domestically the film is a massive hit. Overall, with these four movies, Tollywood has seen Rs. 500 Crores in business.
