Ilaiyaraaja Sends Legal Notice to ‘Good Bad Ugly’ Makers Over Unauthorized Use of His Songs

Legendary music composer Ilaiyaraaja has issued a legal notice to the makers of the Ajith’s Tamil film Good Bad Ugly, alleging unauthorized use of three of his previously composed songs.

According to the notice, the songs were recreated in the film without obtaining proper permission from the composer. Ilaiyaraaja has demanded a compensation of ₹5 crore for the copyright infringement and has asked the filmmakers to immediately remove the songs from the film. He has also sought a public apology from the production team.

The legal action highlights ongoing concerns about intellectual property rights and the reuse of classic works in modern cinema without appropriate authorization. The makers of Good Bad Ugly are yet to respond to the notice.
