Four Indian Cardinals to Help Select Next Pope

Following the passing of Pope Francis on April 21, 2025, four Indian cardinals are among the electors who will participate in the upcoming papal conclave to choose his successor. The cardinals eligible to vote in the conclave are:

Cardinal Filipe Neri Ferrao – Archbishop of Goa and Daman.

Cardinal Baselios Cleemis – Major Archbishop of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church.

Cardinal George Koovakad – Priest from Kerala, elevated to cardinal in December 2024.

Cardinal Anthony Poola – Archbishop of Hyderabad and the first Dalit cardinal.

These cardinals, all under the age of 80, will be part of the 135 electors tasked with choosing the next leader of the Roman Catholic Church.
