The recent floods in Dubai have created havoc. The normal life of Dubai people came to a standstill and many of the major roads were filled with flood water and numerous cars got carried away by the floods. The loss due to the Dubai floods is massive. Keeping this aside, have you ever wondered why Dubai, a desert country has seen such massive floods? What is the reason behind it?
Dubai is one of the hottest countries in the world. The temperatures normally cross 50 degrees Celsius and one can’t live there without air-conditioned rooms and cars. Then why does one of the hottest countries in the world have seen one of the biggest floods ever? Well, the answer is cloud seeding.
What is cloud seeding? This includes adding tiny particles into a cloud in order to give moisture to attach to and form droplets so that they gradually merge and become heavy enough to fall as rain. So the government of Dubai used the Cloud Seeding method to reduce the temperatures. But this time they seemed to overdo this and it eventually caused the storm that resulted in two years of rainfall in just one day.
