Delhi High Court Issues Interim Order Against AR Rahman, Madras Talkies in Copyright Case

The Delhi High Court on Friday issued an interim order in a copyright infringement case involving the song Veera Raja Veera from Ponniyin Selvan 2. The case was filed by renowned classical vocalist and Padma Shri awardee Faiyaz Wasifuddin Dagar, who alleged that the song is a direct copy of Shiva Stuti, a traditional Dhrupad composition by his father Nasir Faiyazuddin Dagar and uncle Zahiruddin Dagar, known as the Junior Dagar Brothers. The court’s order is a setback for composer AR Rahman and production house Madras Talkies.
