Kartheeka Maasam is the month that is very close to Lord Shiva. It is a very auspicious month when devotees tend to go under daylight fasting every day. Also, Ayyappa Swamy devotees started to wear the mala this month. It might be for 41 days, 21 days, or 15 days. During this month, when it is generally cold, Ayyappa Swamy devotees who wear the mala perform baths with cold water. Special pujas and abhishekams will be performed in the day.

In the afternoon, all the Swamys gather at one place and offer alms. The mala dharana program at Sri Shiva Vishnu Temple organized by Sri Datta Peetham was held on Thursday (November 16) with utmost devotion. Shri Raghusharma Sankara Manchi offered maladharana to Swamis. The temple premises of the New Jersey region of America were seen bustling with Ayyappa’s naama smarana. Swamis who received Maladharana took Guruswamy’s blessings.

Maladharana was explained to the new Swamis about the programs, pujas, and alms organized by the temple. They were advised to use the services of the temple.
