AP Government Offices to Be Powered by Solar Energy

In a major green initiative, the Andhra Pradesh government has decided to light up its government offices using solar power. To implement this, the state has signed a key agreement with NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Limited for the installation of rooftop solar power projects.

Under the agreement, 300 megawatts of rooftop solar capacity will be set up on government buildings across the state. The power generated will be used to meet the energy needs of these offices, significantly reducing electricity expenses. Officials estimate a savings of around ₹2,957 crore over the project period.

Apart from financial benefits, the move is also expected to promote clean energy and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. By encouraging solar power usage, the state aims to cut down carbon emissions and lead by example in sustainable governance.
