Abdul Razzaq tenders public apology to Aishwarya Rai for his metaphor involving her
Ex-Pakistani Cricketer Abdul Razzaq today tendering public apologizes to Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai for his comments on her during a match analysis. Razzaq during a talk show that also has other Ex-Pakistani Cricketers Umar Gul and Shahid Afridi commented on Pakistan’s team performance and coaching strategies. He involved Aishwarya Rai with a metaphor.
However, these comments were quickly remarked as outrageous, and disrespectful, and sparked outrage on social media. As the criticism grew, Razzaq tendered a public apology. He opined those comments as a slip of the tongue moment.
“I apologize to Aishwarya Rai personally. It was a slip of the tongue moment. I mistakenly mentioned her name. I didn’t intend to hurt anyone’s feelings,” he said in a video statement.
The apology came not just after public outrage, but also after former cricketers including Pakistanis criticized Razzaq for the comments. Shoaib Akthar highly condemned the comments. He also pointed out the others who were present there should have raised their voices instead of enjoying the joke.
