The Election Commission of India has ordered the Chief Electoral Officer Mukesh Kumar Meena to take strict criminal action against those who have damaged the EVMs at seven polling stations in the Macherla constituency in Andhra Pradesh.

YSRCP Macherla MLA Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy’s name was included in the list of accused after the web camera recording showed him damaging EVMs in polling station 202. The video went viral in no time.

The concerned authorities have handed over the video footage gathered from all such polling stations to the Police for further investigation. The ECI has directed Mr. Meena to inform the DGP to take strict criminal action against the accused including the MLA.

It was only after the video went viral the Police have included the name of the MLA in the FIR. The Election Commission further ordered that Pinnelli to be taken into custody immediately. In all probability, the MLA will be taken into custody by today’s evening.
