Rare honor: Jaya Badiga appointed California’s first Telugu judge

Jaya Badiga who hails from Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh got a rare honor in America. She was appointed as a Sacramento County Superior Court Judge in California. This made her the first person from the Telugu states to take up the duties of a judge in California. Since 2022, she has been serving as a commissioner in the same court.

Jaya Badiga completed her graduation in Hyderabad. Later she went to USA and completed her MA in Boston University. After that she received his degree from Santa Clara University. She cleared the California State Bar Exam in 2009. She has been doing private practice in law for more than 10 years. In this order, she has handled many cases on behalf of the government in many cases without profit. She also worked as a faculty member at McGeorge School of Law.
