Oscar nominations out; One Indian film to compete this year

The much-awaited nominations for the 96th Academy Awards are out and as anticipated Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer receives the majority of nominations. There is something to cheer out for the Indians as well as “To Kill A Tiger” was nominated in the Best Documentary Feature Films Category.

To Kill A Tiger revolves around the real story of a heinous crime that happened in Jharkhand. Nisha Pahuja has directed the film and it was released last year in North America. The documentary has received critical appreciation from all corners. This is the second year that an Indian film has received nominations in the best documentary category. Last year it was ‘All That Breathes’.

Keeping this aside, here are the nominated films and the number of nominations they received.

Poor Things – 11

Killers Of The Flower Moon – 10

Barbie – 8

Maestro – 7

The 96th Academy Awards will be presented on Sunday, March 10, at the Dolby Theatre.
