Mohammed Siraj picked six wickets on day one

Some bizarre things have happened already in the Cape Town test that started today. Batting first, South Africa was bundled for a mere 55. Mohammed Siraj was instrumental in picking 6 wickets in just 9 overs. Bumrah and Mukesh Kumar had two wickets each. Only Bedingham and Verreynne managed to go double digits. After bundling out SA inside 25 overs, India was confident to take a huge lead but not to be.

India lost Yashasvi Jaiswal for a duck. However, Rohit Sharma and Shubhman Gill batted positively and scored at a quick pace. Rohit fell after 39 and Gill for 36. Apart from Kohli who scored 46, none of the batters reach double figures. What’s more terrible is that India had fallen from 153 for 4 to 153 all-out which means for no runs, the team lost all six wickets. It was a rare opportunity for India to dominate the test on day one but the team spilled it with both hands.

South Africa is currently batting in their second innings and lost three wickets. The lead is still 46 for India and if they could manage to pick up the remaining in quick time then there is a good chance for the victory.
