Ind vs Eng: India’s day 1 after spinners, Jaiswal dominate
India started the 5-match test series against England on a positive note. Winning the toss, England had no doubts to choose to bat first. England started well with their Bazball approach but it was short-lived by Ashwin and Jadeja. At one stage, England were 60 for 3. But Bairstow and Root batted positively and threatened India. However, Axar Patel broke the partnership after lunch. Since then there has been a procession of wickets at regular intervals. While the tail has shown some resistance with the help of Ben Stokes’ fluent 70, England managed to score 246 in their first innings. Ashwin and Jadeja picked three wickets each while Axar picked two and the remaining two were scalped by Bumrah.
India in their reply, has shown England their taste. Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal batted quite fluently. Yashasvi in particular was tremendous. He has shown what stroke-making is on the first day of an Indian pitch.
India scored 119 for the loss of one wicket. Yashasvi scored 76 and Shubman Gill is accompanying him.
