State Bank of India has today had a major setback in the Supreme Court. Yesterday, it was very well known that SBI disclosed the purchase and redemption details of electoral bonds as per the orders of the Supreme Court. Today, the Supreme Court directed SBI to disclose electoral bond numbers which will reveal the link between donors and political parties.
This is going to be a huge decision from SBI as it will reveal the link between the electoral bonds purchase person or company and the political party they funded it to. Right from all the major parties to the small parties in the country, the details will be shocking. So far, only donors and their donated amounts were mentioned.
The Supreme Court has to come up with the response by March 18th. It was revealed yesterday that Bharatiya Janata Party is the biggest beneficiary of the electoral bonds securing Rs. 6,566 Crores. Congress is in the second position with Rs. 1,123 Crores.
